Unlike chemical approaches to water disinfection, UV provides rapid, effective inactivation of micro-organisms through a physical process. When bacteria, viruses and protozoa are exposed to the germicidal wavelengths of UV light, they are rendered incapable of reproducing and infecting.
The International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA) believes that UV disinfection technologies can play a role in a multiple barrier approach to reducing the transmission of the virus causing COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2, based on current disinfection data and empirical evidence. UV is a known disinfectant for air, water and surfaces that can help to mitigate the risk of acquiring an infection when coming in to contact with the COVID-19 virus when applied correctly.
Ultraviolet (UV) light radiation is a physical disinfection method that can be applied to liquids and solid surfaces to partially or totally reduce their microbial load. UV sanitizing radiations are referred to as UV-C.
UV light can play a vital and effective role in keeping our library partners safe during their disinfection process in keeping all surfaces and even communal spaces clean. It is a chemical free solution which effectively kills viruses, bacteria, allergens & mold on any surface.
UV-C (also called germicidal UV) is part of the ultraviolet spectrum that can inactivate pathogens like bacteria and viruses. UV-C utilizes specific wavelengths of the ultraviolet spectrum, typically between 200 to 280 nanometers.
Partnering with The Cleaning Medic, a specialist in the field with years of experience and clients in the medical industry, UKS was able to provide two solutions for library environments, the UV-C Book BOX and the Sani UV-C Ceiling Disc.
By placing up to 15 books in the box at a time for only 3 to 5 minutes you will be Killing or inhibiting microorganisms from further spreading and damaging your books as well as protecting your library staff from surface contaminants.
Easy to assemble once the books are in all that is required is closing the lid and placing the detachable light bar or wand over the rectangular gap and turning it on.
Extra utilization
The light bar or wand has been left detached so that it may be mobile and used for all surfaces. UV-C light is not only safe for any books or surfaces but also for electronical equipment, perfect for any and all shared spaces such as desks, shelves, kitchens etc.
A slow movement over these surfaces allows to the UV-C light to take affect and sterilize the space with up to 90% efficiency
These easy to install discs are our solution to airborne MICROORGANISMS such as viruses or bacteria that may create an unsafe or unhealthy space, causing sickness and extended downtime which could have been avoided.
Most effective in communal or high-volume areas such as libraries, boardrooms or study spaces, these units use ultraviolet germicidal irradiation to reduce the concentration of airborne contaminants by up to 90%. This technology has been used as far back as the 1940’s in high-risk medical institutions where airborne transmission such as TB existed.
If not used or implemented properly, direct exposure to germicidal ultraviolet lighting can have damaging effects on people. Over exposure to UV-C lighting can harm humans in a variety of ways, such as eye and skin damage.
During the disinfection process, protective eyewear has to be worn at all times while using the unit. Do not shine the light directly on skin as UVC can cause burn-like skin irritation or directly into your eyes as this will cause eye damage.
